Parking in Amsterdam is difficult and expensive, especially in the centre. On-street parking is up to E 5,- per hour, and enforcement is to be taken seriously. Free parking does not exist in the centre of Amsterdam, and the areas around it.
A recent development is that parking garages that are just outside the old centre, and that are relatively new, have trouble finding enough clients. These garages can have cheap deals for parking.
P+R locations provide cheaper parking options, and in some parts of town (the outskirts) parking is free. However, if you have a non-Dutch licence plate you should consider guarded parking. Thieves have a liking for cars with foreign license plates.
On this page is a list of parking garages in the downtown area of Amsterdam.
