On-street parking in Amsterdam is possible, but very expensive. Prices in the centre are up to e 7.50 per hour (from 14 April 2019). Outside the old centre, rates are lower.
Starting July 1 2013, on-street parking has been completely digitalized. This means:
- you have to enter your license plate number into one of the nearby parking machines.
- payment is only possible with a debit or credit card (payment with cash is not an option)
- you do not have to leave a receipt of the payment in your car any more. Parking guards can check that you paid by scanning your license plate number.
- the parking machines have touch screens, and you can choose English as a language.
On this site you can find more information (in English) about parking, including a link to a map (in Dutch) of Amsterdam with parking rates by area.
