The famous Amsterdam shoe maker Jan Jansen will put up a few hundred of his shoes for auction.
The auction is on the occasion of his 45th anniversary as a shoe designer. His designs have always been innovative and one-of-a-kind. His revolutionary ideas have been copied worldwide (leading to several court cases), he has received various design awards, and even museums have shown his work.
Auction house Christie's (Cornelis Schuytstraat 57 in Amsterdam South) will be the place to get an opportunity to buy a real Jan Jansen shoe.
Some shoes will not be sold as pairs, they have to be considered collector's items.
The viewing days are February 9-12, from 10am-5pm and February 13 from 10am-4pm.
The auction will be on Valentine's Day, 14 February, 2pm.
Jan Jansen's shop in Amsterdam is at Rokin 42 (near Dam Square), open from Tuesday to Saturday, 11-6.
