Parked cars in Amsterdam are often towed away by mistake.
The Social and Civic Year Report of Amsterdam shows that car owners who appeal against the towing away of their cars, get the fine annulled in 15% of the cases. Of all city departments, this percentage is the highest error score in the report.
Often, where the traffic wardens think a car is incorrectly parked, or parked without payment, this appears not to be the case.
Parking fines appeared to be incorrect in 7.3% of the cases.
Some information about towing away (and wheel clamps) is on this page.
