Record number of visitors for Amsterdam Rijksmuseum 2013

The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam received 2.7 million visitors in 2013. This is an all time record for the museum.

The result is spectacular, because the management expected about 1.5 million visitors. The previous year record for the Rijksmuseum dates from 1975 with 1.4 million.

The new record has everything with the re-opening of the Rijksmuseum on April 13 2013, when Queen Beatrix opened the renovated museum after it was mostly closed for a decade.
Reviews about the museum in the press worldwide have been very positive, which also contributed to the success.
