Problem with drinking water in East part of Amsterdam

Waternet, the water company that delivers tap water in Amsterdam, advises to boil drinking water 3 minutes, for the next 4 days.

The advice is valid for health risk groups such as elderly people, or chronically ill people.
Taking a shower is no problem.

The warning also applies to nearby places as Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, Diemen, Weesp, Muiden and Muiderberg.

There problem is caused by a technical failure in the water cleaning system.

If you are staying in accommodation in Amsterdam, you can consult your accommodation manager or landlord.

A spokesperson of Waternet stresses that the warning is precautionary. According to her, persons with normal health are not at risk.
