Dutch law will be changed so as to make it possible for homosexual comples to legally adopt foreign children. Presently, only adoption of Dutch children is allowed.
Although gay marriage is already possible for some years in the Netherlands, adoption of children from abroad was still not possible.
On initiative of the Dutch Social-Democrats (PvdA), the Liberal Party (D66) and the Conservative party (VVD), supported by the Christian Democrats (CDA) and the Green Left (Groen Links) - a broad majority in parliament -, the law will be changed.
The minister of Justice (Mr Donner) was opposed to the change, because there are no countries outside the Netherlands that will allow gay couples to adopt children.
The parliament majority wants measures faster, and the minister of Justice has said he will comply.
