News of: Wednesday, January 20 2016,
Starting April 2016, there will be a direct ferry connection between Amsterdam Central Station and the heritage buildings village De Zaanse Schans.
The ferry line that already connects Amsterdam Central Station with the Yada Yada food court (closed until March 2016) and Zaandam, will be extended to the Zaanse Schans.
The Zaanse Schans is a heritage village with historic buildings, including about 8 historic windmills. It drew almost 2 million visitors in 2015, an increase of 20% compared to 2014.
The boat will (probably) 7 days a week, and about 4 or 5 times a day. The exact starting date is yet unknown too, but should be somewhere 1 to 15 April 2016.
The rate per passenger is yet unknown, but the rate for the current boat ride to Zaandam is E 5.- for a return ticket (bicycle free), so a trip to Zaanse Schans may be estimated to become E 10.- per person.
The details will become available in a week or so, and published on Simply Amsterdam.
