Amsterdam: city is full

The city of Amsterdam calls upon everyone not to come to Amsterdam any more this evening.

The city says the maximum capacity of Museumplein square is reached (about 100,000 to 125,000) people. If more people go to Museumplein, they will possibly not be able to see the match on the large screen.

In the afternoon, there has been a weather alarm for the Loosdrechtse Plassen, lakes just south of Amsterdam, due to a sudden severe thunderstorm with heavy rain. This weather has already disappeared, but the weather office warns that more severe weather can suddenly come up, also in Amsterdam.

Due to the thunderstorms of last night, several tv cable companies are dealing with technical problems, as several stations have been hit by lightning. Major cable companies say they can not guarantee everyone will have a tv signal during the World Cup match.
