Yesterday was the opening of a new kind of shop in the Amsterdam Kalverstraat: one where you can go to the bathroom.
Kalverstraat is the busiest shopping street of Amsterdam (and probably of the Netherlands), but for a public lavatory you have to go into a cafe or restaurant.
The company 2theloo saw an opportunity here: there must be a demand for a clean public restroom.
2theloo promises 'always clean' toilets and washrooms, and for parents with kids they have a family restroom. They also provide a handicapped accessible restroom.
In addition, there is a shop with toiletries, storage closets, and sometimes a coffee corner.
The shop in Kalverstraat is just the first: the company has plans to expand worldwide on busy locations.
The cost for a toilet visit is 1 Euro, and 2theloo is open every day of the week, during opening hours of the shops (until 6.30 pm, and on Thursday until 9pm).
