In the centre of Amsterdam, you will see all kinds of traces relating to the German occupation, that lasted from May 1940 to May 1945.
There are many monuments, statues and buildings that carry the memory of the many Amsterdam Jews and other inhabitants that were taken away and killed during World War II.
