Tomorrow is the start of the traditional Uitmarkt, which marks the start of the theater season in Amsterdam. The Uitmarkt lasts 3 days.
The concept of the Uitmarkt is that the public gets to see small samples, usually 15 minutes, of the performances and shows of the coming season. On a large outdoor market, theatre groups get the opportunity to present themselves.
The sample shows are mostly free, and can be seen in many venues and several temporary outdoor stages.
The opening event is on Friday August 27, 8.50pm, at Museumplein, which is also where the main stage is located.
A book market can be found on Museumplein and a world of information is available at stands en route between Leidseplein and Museumplein.
English language information: The Amsterdam Uitburo's International Service Point is located on Museumplein, near the Van Gogh Museum. Here you'll find all you need to know about the festival. Ask for the English-language guide to the Uitmarkt.
The 3 main locations of this year's Uitmarkt are Museumplein square, Leidseplein square and Vondelpark. (See numbers 1, 7 and 15 on this map).

The Uitmarkt lasts until Sunday evening, August 29.
