A few inches of snowfall have caused major traffic disruption in the Netherlands.
The snow reached the country in the early afternoon, and soon the major highways suffered from serious traffic congestion.
At the worst point, a length of 830 kilometers of traffic jams had built, making February 3 2012 the 4th worst day in the traffic jam top 10 in Holland.
Train services, particularly around Utrecht and Amsterdam were also affected by the snowfall. There are hardly any trains to or from Utrecht and Amsterdam. The Dutch Railways website is unreachable because of the number of visitors trying to reach the website.
Schiphol Airport also reported delays and cancellations of several flights.
The snowfall has stopped, but the traffic problems are expected to continue for the next hours.
