Traffic and train problems in the Netherlands, due to bad weather

Strong wind, heavy rain and thunderstorms have caused damage and traffic disruptions throughout the Netherlands.

The weather started last night, and continued through the night.

On several roads around Amsterdam, long traffic jams built up, up to a total of 605 km. This means this morning ranks number 6 in the traffic jam top 10.
Some main roads were closed due to floodings. On www.traphic.nl you can see the current traffic situation.

Train services are also affected. Travellers should expect more travel time for the next few hours. More detailed information is on www.ns.nl (the railways website, in Dutch).

In the course of today there can be more heavy showers, but generally the weather will improve.
