News of: Friday, August 28 2015,
Tonight is the opening of the Uitmarkt weekend in Amsterdam, the traditional opening of the cultural season.
The concept of the Uitmarkt is that you get to see many performances on stages and in theaters all over the centre of Amsterdam, for free. This is for the theatres and cultural groups to present themselves to the public. Mostly, you see/hear parts of shows (not the entire show) to entice you to get tickets.
The festival attracts many thousands of visitors traditonally, and just as traditionally, there is an opening event on Friday evening and a closing event on Sunday evening.
Friday August 28 is the (free) opening event at the I Amsterdam Stage on Museumplein, starting at 9.10pm. It's mostly in Dutch, but it may be fun anyway.
Sunday August 30 is the closing event: the traditional Musicall Singalong, also at Museumplein. This starts at 9.20pm.
Near the Van Gogh Museum on Museumplein is the International Service Point. Here you can get information in English, including language no problem highlights.
All details can be found on the Uitmarkt page.
