This evening the Surinameplein square will be blocked off, to accommodate a large tv screen that will show the soccer match between Turkey and Germany.
Surinameplein is located just South-West of the Vondelpark, at the end of the street Overtoom. All traffic to the square will be blocked, and public transport guided around it.
Previous matches in which Turkey took part led to big partying in the streets of Amsterdam (especially on Mercatorplein).
The match is part of the half finals of the European Soccer Championship 2008.
The match starts at 8.45pm.
Surinameplein is reachable by tram 1 from Leidseplein or from Central Station. Walking would take some 30 minutes from Leidseplein square.
