If the cold weather persists, Amsterdam will not have enough road salt to grit the roads, in the next few days.
Until this weekend, there is enough road salt to grit the main roads, but the less important roads will have to wait until new shipments of salt arrive.
Gritting in Amsterdam will be limited to the main roads for cars and public transport. Bridges are also a priority.
The weather outlook remains mostly below freezing, with some snow showers, so the salt will be badly needed.
The next big shipment of road salt is expected to arrive at the end of next week.
