The placement of security cameras in the streets of central Amsterdam has helped to reduce crime and drug trade.
In several streets near the Central Station and in and near the Red Light District police monitored security cameras have reduced the crime problems in these areas.
However, the problems now appear to be spreading to other parts of Amsterdam, that are not yet monitored by cameras.
Citizens at Nieuwe Hoogstraat and Oude Hoogstraat say they are experiencing an increase in drug related problems, and demand they also get cameras.
The authorities had already promised to place cameras by November last year.It now looks like that cameras will be placed in August of this year.
