Riot near Melkweg theatre Amsterdam

Some 200 visitors attending the punk party 'Wasted Festival' were caught up in a big fight with police, yesterday evening.

The trouble started when police addressed a man who was urinating into the canal near the Melkweg theatre, near Leidseplein square, around 10 pm. This aroused other visitors of the Wasted Festival, and soon a big fight ensued.

In the end about 200 people were fighting with the police, throwing bottles and stones. The unrest continued until into the night.
Several arrests were made.
