The Open Monuments Days have attracted 900,000 people this weekend. The monuments in Amsterdam had 22000 visitors.
The Open Monuments Day is in Amsterdam actually a weekend, in which a number of buildings will open to the public that are normally closed. Entrance is free.
Apart from Amsterdam, in the Netherlands some 360 cities and towns take part.
The event is part of the European Heritage Days, and is held each year in the second weekend of September.
The next Open Monument Day is on September 9 and 10, 2006.
