Metro tunnel drills finally reach Amsterdam soil

The drills, that are going to create the tunnels for the new North/South line have now really started.

More than 2 weeks after the official start and blessing by a priest, the first drill of the North/South metro line has now really reached the Amsterdam soil.

The builders started the drilling very cautiously in order to test it, and the drills had to make their way through a thick concrete wall, before reaching real soil.
The drill starts slowly, but after a weeks it will reach its full speed of 8 to 10 meters per day.

The first part that is being made is between the Central Station and Dam Square (Rokin Station).
