Manneken Pis has built some fame for its french fries. They won several prizes for their fries.
It is a chain of outlets, and the one in Amsterdam is on Damrak.
The name (and logo) of Manneken Pis is derived from the little statue in Brussels of the peeing boy. This Belgian symbol is chosen because, different from English, where the fries are called 'French', in Dutch they are often called 'Flemish'. Flanders is the Dutch speaking half of Belgium, in Holland traditionally regarded as the cradle of quality fries.
French fries are probably the most popular snack food in the Netherlands.
