Three training ships of the Japanese Navy will visit Amsterdam between July 16 and 20.
The ‘Kashima’, the ‘Asagiri’ and the ‘Umigiti’ and their 720 staff will moor at the head of the Java island.
Java Island (Java-eiland) is one of the peninsulas in the Eastern Docklands area. Bus 42 from the Central Station goes there, or you can walk there in about 30-40 minutes. See also this map.
The visit is on the occassion of the 150th anniversary of the friendship and trade treaty between the Netherlands and Japan, and the 400th anniversary of the Japanese-Dutch trade relations (which is celebrated in 2009).
On Saturday July 19, from 1-4 pm there is an open day on the ships.
