A remarkable hotel opens today in the outskirts of Amsterdam: the Fletcher Hotel Amsterdam.
The hotel is 60 meter high, and on the outside it is decorated with eye-catching blue circles.
The tower is visible from miles around, and is therefore a new landmark for Amsterdam.
The location is not very attractive for tourists visiting Amsterdam, as it is located in a boring, non-residential office area, close to the AMC (Amsterdam Medisch Centrum, Amsterdam's largest hospital). The distance to the centre of Amsterdam is about 14 km / 9 miles.
The location might be practical if you arrive by car (the hotel is located at the junction of the A2 and A9). There are 120 rooms, and there is an underground parking garage.
The hotel has a shuttle service to and from the city centre, and Schiphol Airport.
The hotel has a sky restaurant and lounge on the top floor, both also accessible for non-hotel guests. Both the lounge and the restaurant offer spectacular views around Amsterdam.
Opening hours sky lounge: 11am-1am, sky restaurant: 6am-11pm, both 7 days a week.
