Christmas Canal Parade 2010 on December 23

On Thursday December 23 the Christmas Canal Parade will be held.

The parade consists of 20 tour boats (ticket sale has already ended), that will be decorated and illuminated for the occasion, and sail through the Prinsengracht Canal.

This year’s theme for the Canal Parade is 'Lights of the World'.
Artists like Aziz, Gillian Schrofer and the American artist Eric Staller have all agreed to show their artistic talent. Other organisations have agreed to show their art. A school competition has also taken place to draw their own 'Light Festival of the World' following the central theme around this event.

Along the route of the parade choirs will stand on the sides of the canal to make the atmosphere even more magical.

On this page is a map of the route of the parade..

The parade starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm.

Probably one of the nicer places to watch the parade is the famous Magere Brug ('Skinny Bridge') over the river Amstel, that has been especially illuminated this year (but of course, along the Prinsengracht canal is very nice too!).

The Skinny Bridge is number 18 on this map).
