Starting May 1 2015, the famous Blijburg beach on IJburg can be visited again.
The location is a bit north of what it used to be. On the old location they will start building houses, so it is now closed for the public.
The new location is on the new Centrum eiland, one of the islands of IJburg, a newly created piece of land in the East of Amsterdam.
This location of Blijburg Beach will also be temporary, although this might be many years. And it has been so popular that it might become a permanent beach - who knows.
At the moment (May 1 2015), the Blijburg cafe is still being built. It is scheduled to re-open in July, until that time some fast food cabins will provide food and drinks.
The beach itself is open, and you can take a dip in the water. In 2016 the location will probably become an officially registered swimming location again.
Access to the beach is free of charge, and the beach does not close.
