The yearly Uitmarkt has moved again to the city centre. This year's edition has more performances than ever before.
The Uitmarkt (site in Dutch only) is a festival marking the beginning of the new cultural season in Amsterdam.
All kinds of artists perform free samples of their shows in the new season, a concept which every year draws large crowds to the theatres. There are also many information stalls.
This year the Uitmarkt has moved back to several locations in the city centre again. There will be 7 outdoor stages, and 20 indoor locations, around Dam Square, Waterlooplein (City Hall/Opera House) and the Nieuwmarkt square.
The opening event will be at 8.30 pm on Dam Square.
Probably the largest event will be the closing concert, by the famous Concertgebouworkest, on Sunday evening, 9 to 10pm, on Dam Square.
The Uitmarkt will be held on August 25 (evening), and August 26 and 27 (all day).
