In 2014 Artis rearranged its buildings a bit, to allow for an open space that is publicly accessible. The result is the Artisplein (Artis Square), surrounded by various old zoo buildings, with a view on the flamingos and sounds from other animals.

On the square there are plenty of chairs and tables, where you can have something to eat and drink. The entrance to the Plantage restaurant is located on the square.

THe entrance to the square is free.
