Amsterdam wants to be Gay Capital of Europe again

After a few serious violent incidents against gays, the image of Amsterdam as Gay Capital has suffered damage.

On a discussion evening, that took place yesterday, a new initiative was presented, called 'the 10 commandments' (website in Dutch).

The 'commandments' focus on issues such as creating new events, politics, health care, information and getting more gay tourism to Amsterdam.

One of the initiatives will be the creation of a gay museum, describing the history of gay men and women in the Netherlands. The museum is to be located in the centre of Amsterdam.

The initiative is (i.a.) supported by Amsterdam Centrum authority, the Amsterdam Tourist Board and major gay organizations.
