Amsterdam preparing for Gay Pride Canal Parade, Saturday August 7

Tomorrow will be the traditional yearly Gay Pride Canal Parade, through the Prinsengracht canal.

The parade consists of 80 large, decorated boats, with several themes relating to gay culture and liberation.
The parade is one of the biggest events in Amsterdam, it attracts about half a million spectators.

One of the special events this year is the arrival of a gay-only cruise ship. It has 2,100 gay passengers, that will arrive from Stockholm at 8.30, at the Passengers Terminal Amsterdam.
The ship will receive a special welcome by city officials.

The canal parade starts at 2pm on Saturday, and it takes about 3 to 4 hours for the parade to reach the end.
