The latest list of crime statistics shows Amsterdam as nr 4 on the list of most dangerous cities - after Rotterdam, Arnhem and Eindhoven.
This means that in Rotterdam you have the highest possibility to fall victim to some form of crime. For Rotterdam this is caused by the relatively high number of car thefts, robberies and muggings. Rotterdam says 'it does not recognize itself in this picture'.
Crime rates in Amsterdam have come down consistently over the past years.
The police says that generally in the Netherlands the crime rates are going down. This has to do with the policy to concentrate on persons who repeatedly commit crimes.
