Amsterdam food banks refuse new clients

The food banks in Amsterdam have decided to stop the intake of new clients. They can not handle the large number of applications.

The food banks are a relatively recent development in Amsterdam (and in the Netherlands in general), but at the moment many new food banks are set up.
The idea of a food bank is that it collects food that is past the consumption date or which can not be sold for another reason, but which is still suitable for consumption.

In Amsterdam there is enough food to give to the clients, but not enough space to store it. This caused the stop to accept new clients. The food banks are working with the City of Amsterdam to find a larger storage facility.
