Westerpark

Westerpark

The Westerpark grew into the second largest park of Amsterdam, after its expansion in the early 21st century.
The 19th century part has remained intact, it was expanded with the Cultuurpark Westergasfabriek, consisting of a number of old buildings (left-overs of a gas plant), that have been transformed into a cultural center with some restaurants, outdoor cafes, clubs and a cinema.

Together, the Westerpark and the Cultuurpark Westerpark form a unity, which has become the second most popular park of Amsterdam, after the Vondelpark.

On sunny days Amsterdammers flock to the park to barbecue and picnic, have a swim with their children in the shallow water basin, or eat out in one of the restaurants.

The park is also the location of several outdoor festivals, dance parties etc.
