VOC ship 'Amsterdam' moved to Nemo building

The VOC ship replica (the 'Amsterdam') has been moved to a temporary place next to the NEMO building.

The ship normally is located next to the Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Museum), but this museum is being renovated at the moment. The renovation lasts until 2009, which is why it was decided to tow the 'Amsterdam' to a temporary location next to the NEMO, to keep the ship accessible to the public.

The ship was planned to be relocated in January, but this was impossible due to bad weather.

The ship has a replica 17th century interior, and there are actors to show the life on board in that time (which makes it a popular attraction for children).

The ship will probably be accessible again on April 11.
