VHS soon out of business because of DVD

Videoland, the market leader in the Netherlands for video rentals, announced it will soon only rent dvd's.

Around 90 percent of all rentals are now DVD's, and competitors like Moviemax, BVDO/Filmstation, Filmclub and Ster report similar figures.
Exact dates are not given, but VHS rentals may be terminated within a year.

Some 70 percent of all Dutch households now have a DVD player. The first DVD was rented in 1986, the change went so fast because of the better quality of DVD, aggressive marketing, and the fact that DVD player have become a cheap commodity.
