The Uitmarkt is a three-day celebration of the Netherlands' cultural scene. It officially launches the new cultural season by showcasing the very best in music, art, theatre, dance, opera, literature and cabaret performances. Some 2,000 performers take to almost 30 Amsterdam venues throughout the weekend.
In the Uitmarkt weekend you can see parts of shows, that are scheduled for the new season. These shows are for free. The several stages of the Uitmarkt are normally in the city centre - many performances are in regular theaters.
The Uitmarkt Amsterdam started in 1978. It is one of the largest annual events in Amsterdam, that takes place at the end of August.
