It has become sort of a tradition: the Amsterdam Light Festival has started for the 3rd year in a row, after two successful editions.
The ALF 2014/2015 lasts until January 19 2015.
The Festival consists of two main parts:
1. Water Colours (the boat route)
During the festival, large works of illuminated art are to be seen on several locations in the centre of Amsterdam. They are mostly placed in or near canals.
It is possible to take a boat tour along them, but you can also walk or cycle along the artworks.

2. Illuminade (walking route)
This is from December 11 to January 4. The Illuminade is a walking route along various light artworks. The works include projections on historical buildings, installations on the street or in public parks, or works that require visitor participation.

On the calendar you find more associated events of the festival, but the above two are the core events.
The events 'Water Colors' and 'Illuminade' are free of charge.
