Hotel Spaander is the most famous hotel in Volendam. Not only for its authentic Dutch interior and atmosphere, but particularly for its collection of paintings.
The 19th century founders of the hotel wanted to make the hotel a meeting place for (international) painters, and they succeeded. Paintings were given out of gratitude or by way of payment for their stay. Nowadays, these paintings still cover the walls of Hotel Spaander.
