Amsterdam now also has its own group of small pub owners who have decided together to ignore the smoking ban.
A group of 52 pubs in Amsterdam have decided to allow smoking again, despite the national smoking ban which became effective on July 1.
The move follows similar groups in other towns in the Netherlands that also announced to place back the ashtrays, a few days ago.
The group of Amsterdam cafes (a list of members is not known) fears a big loss in income if they don't allow smoking.
The Minister of Health announced tough enforcement of the anti-smoking law.
