Rembrandt statue (Rembrandtplein)

The oldest Rembrandt statue in Amsterdam: it dates from 1852. The plan for its creation dates from 1841, and its creator is Louis Royer (Belgium).

When the statue was placed, the square was still called Botermarkt ('Butter Market'). The square was named Rembrandtplein in 1876.
