A publisher of 15 large (mainly women) magazines in the Netherlands has started an online petition for more public lavatories for ladies.
On the website you can place an online signature to plead for more public lavatories that are also suitable for ladies (click on 'Zet hier je handtekening' = 'Place your signature here').
On the website: Not only do women need toilets that they can use, they often need a place to work on their make-up, or change diapers of small children. Public toilets are particularly needed in shopping areas (and Amsterdam is really a big open air shopping mall).
After collecting the signatures, the publisher wants to present the signatures to organizations of shops and city authorities.
In Amsterdam, ladies will have to go to a café (and thus be forced to buy a drink), or go to one of the rare publicly accessible toilets. Large departments stores often have public (and clean) toilets, such as the Hema, V&D and the Bijenkorf, but outside these places public lavatories are hard to find.
