Two cinemas of the Pathé chain, in Amsterdam and The Hague, will show live performances on screen by the New York Metropolitan Opera.
A total of 8 productions will be shown, with the help of the High Definition digital projection technique.
The operas can be seen from December 15 2007 to April 25 2008 in the Tuschinski cinema in Amsterdam and the Buitenhof theatre in The Hague.
The operas show will be matinee perforances in New York, therefore late afternoon or early evening performances in Holland, because of the 6 hour time difference.
The operas shown will be:
Romeo et Juliette (by Gounod)
Hansel und Gretel (Humperdinck)
Macbeth (Verdi)
Manon Lescaut (Puccini)
Peter Grimes (Britten)
Tristan und Isolde (Wagner)
La Bohème (Puccini)
La fille du régiment (Donizetti).

The Tuschinski is the most beautiful cinema in Amsterdam, an art deco building dating from the 1920's.
Tickets will be on sale from August 30 (through the Pathé website), and will cost E 32.50 (including 2 drinks).
