Netherlands rises to third place on 'Human Development Index 2011'

Holland has gone to the third place on the Human Development Index 2011, up from rank 7.

The list is published by the UNDP (the list in a PDF file). Last year, the Netherlands ranked 7, in 2009 place 6, and in 2008 place 9.

The Index is a measure for how pleasant it is to live in a particular country. Amongst the things that are measured are income, health, education level and life expectancy.
The total list consists of 189 countries.

Number 1 on the list has been Norway for many years.
