After the renovation of the Nelson Mandela Park in 2010, there is not much left by way of a park. Thousands of trees were felt, to make place for some ponds, open grass fields, some sports fields and open space where new houses are to be built.
In 2016, the houses near the park are being built.
To top it all, a busy road cuts through the park. All in all, this is not one of Amsterdam's most beautiful parks. Maybe it changes after some years, when the trees and shrubs have grown.
(In 2014 this park was renamed from Bijlmerpark to Nelson Mandelapark)
The Nelson Mandelapark is the location of the yearly Kwaku Festival.
