The I Amsterdam Card appears to sell very well this year.
The I Amsterdam Card gives access to a number of important museums in Amsterdam, all public transport in Amsterdam, and includes a free canal boat tour.
Card are available that are valid for 1, 2 or 3 days.
The Amsterdam Tourist Board estimates to sell about 100,000 cards this year.
The card is not new. It started as the 'Amsterdam Pass', 8 years ago, and has been renamed 'I Amsterdam Card' since Amsterdam adopted 'I AMsterdam' as the new advertising slogan to promote Amsterdam.
The 'I Amsterdam Card' does not give access to the Anne Frank House, one of the most important and busiest tourist attractions in Amsterdam (it does not participate in most discount cards).
Also, it does not cover the train ride to and from Schiphol Airport.
To this purpose, recently the the Amsterdam All in 1 Travel Ticket was introduced, which does cover the airport train ride.
For longer stays, or repeat visitors, the Museumjaarkaart (Mueseum Year Card) can be a good deal. The card gives access to most museums in all of the Netherlands for 1 year, and costs about E 34,-.
