Haile Gebrselassie will appear on the startline of the 30th Amsterdam Marathon on 16 October this year.
The 32-years old Gebrselassie – worldwide recognized as the best long distance runner all times – will run his second marathon ever. “Haile Gebrselassie received offers for marathons worldwide, but he has chosen for the ING Amsterdam Marathon because of the central and prominent role he will be allocated in the field, the personal escort and the fast course. It is here he expects the best changes for his attempt for his personal best time of 2.06.35”, according to Jos Hermens, manager of Gebrselassie.
With the participation of Gebrselassie the ING Amsterdam Marathon fortifies again it’s position on the stage of international top marathons. Last year Amsterdam strengthened already the fourth place on the world rank list of fastests marathon cities with the new course record of 2.06.23 by Robert Cheboror.
