Grachtenfestival

Grachtenfestival

Grachtenfestival Amsterdam ('Canal Festival') is an annual festival of (mainly) classical music held at special locations around the centre of Amsterdam, with offshoots in other parts of town such as North of the IJ. Over a period of ten days, the Grachtenfestival provides a stage for young musical talent, choosing an appropriate and often historical setting for each musical event on or beside Amsterdam's numerous waterways.

The traditonal highlight of the Grachtenfestival is the Prinsengracht Concert. This is a (free) open-air concert, at corner of Prinsengracht/Westermarkt (near Westerkerk). The concert is given from a float on the canal, and attracts hundreds of boats and thousands of specators.

The festival is on many locations throughout the centre of Amsterdam.
