The Dutch Railways will be using a floating train during the Sail 2005 event, to transport people between the Central Station and Java Island.
The SailTrain (picture) is a real train, which has been installed on an old ferry boat. It can transport 60 persons.
The Railways expect to transport 1.2 million people to Sail 2005.
The Dutch Railways is one of the sponsors of the event, and with the SailTrain it wants to highlight the prominent role it plays in transporting large numbers of people.
During Sail 2005 the train will sail between Central Station and the special new 'train station' Amsterdam Java quay.
After Sail the train will be used on normal tracks again.
