The number 112 is now the emergency phone number for the entire European Union.
Now that Poland as the last member state introduced the special phone number, the whole European Community uses the same number for ambulance, fire brigade and police emergencies.
Although the use of 112 by all member states had been prescribed since 1991, many states were slow with the implementation.
The principal language is the local language in the country where you are, though English is widely understood. The number is a free number everywhere.
