TCA, the leading taxi company in Amsterdam, has it plans to have 20 electric taxis on the road in Amsterdam by this summer.
The taxis will look like the traditional English cab in London. Electric taxis have been around in London for several years.
By the end of the year there should be 50 electric taxis in Amsterdam.
A lot of taxi drivers will not drive anything else than a Mercedes, but a number of taxi drivers have said they will consider the English cab.
Electric taxis make less noise, produce hardly any pollution, and do not smell. They can go 150 kilometer on one battery, before it has to be charged.
